Wherever Barney McKenna
met some musicians, if he
had his banjo with him, he always
will play few tunes with them. He
did not care if the other musicians
were up to his standart, or not.

The two of them were actually the
very first formation of the Dubliners.
On the picture they took a part in a
benefit football match.
Barney said he knew he had a reputation
as a heavy drinker, spending nights out
drinking. He wanted to make clear, that
he didn’t become a virtuoso in the pub.
You can bee the most gifted musician in
the world, and you still need practice.
Barney McKenna learned to play at home,
by practicing, practicing, practicing.
